About
mumps.ca is the personal blog/journal/archive of me, Michael Zacharias. If you looking for information on mumps (the childhood disease), then you’ve come to the wrong spot. This site is about computer programming in the M(umps) language.
What is mumps?
Mumps (or M as it’s also called) is a programming language that includes an efficient data store. Some would say that mumps has a horrobile syntax and its terminology is confusing. I say, don’t be so closed minded. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve found mumps to be incredibly capable and more powerful at some tasks than many modern languages.
Who am I?
I’ve been a mumps consultant/contract programmer for more than a decade now. I started my computing life programming in C, Pascal and Modula 2. Then later I experimented in Java before catching the mumps bug (pardon the pun :-) ).
In my career I’ve had the opportunity to work in finance and healthcare; supporting banking systems for some of the largest banks in the world, and the laboratory systems for some of the busiest clinics and centers in Canada. In the past few years I’ve settled into specializing in the Profile/Anywhere core banking product from Fidelity National Financial.
